It's about that time to toast to spring, but also a time when I (and many others, I assume) are in ahhhh-almost-swimsuit-weather-panic-diet mode. OK, maybe not quite a panic, but at least a time to be conscious of calories to make sure you're beach ready in a few short weeks. So, how do we navigate this dilemma? Luckily many alcohol brands have introduced low-calorie options for us savvy drinkers. While a Skinnygirl Margarita is also a nice option, my absolute favorite right now is the line of Smirnoff's Sorbet Light flavors. Try this Pomegranate Punch at your next brunch or afternoon get-together for a deliciously refreshing cocktail coming in at just 121 calories. Pomegranate Punch
- 1.5 oz SMIRNOFF SORBETTM Light Raspberry Pomegranate
- 1.5 oz pomegranate juice
- 0.25 oz agave nectar (a natural sweetener that can be found at most upscale supermarkets)
- 2 oz club soda
In a cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients, except the club soda. Shake and pour into a tall glass. Top with club soda. Garnish with a lime wedge.

If you're refraining from the alcoholic options or the kids want to toast to spring too, there's no reason anyone should be left out! Sangria is fun, flavorful and the perfect spring companion. To make a non-alcoholic version, cut thin slices of some vibrant fruits (orange, lemon, lime, apples) and mix with tea, cinnamon, sugar and juice. Give any of them a try or, better yet, let us know your spring beverage faves.
