6 must-have apps for you and your pets

We've already outlined our favorite apps for humans, but what about our furry friends?! Here are 6 must-have apps for you and your pets that you'll love if you have a cat or dog.

BarkCam

BarkCam

This handy apps helps you take the perfect pictures of your pups, and make them into even cuter snapshots. My favorite feature is when you hit the 'take photo' button, you select a sound that the app will make (a meow, the beloved sound of the treat bag, a knock) which will result in the perfect head tilt from your pup. Now that you have the perfect pic, make it pop with unique stickers, dogified photo filters, thought bubbles, or even make the pic into the perfect internet meme. Now post and watch your dog become a star! Here are some of the cute pics we've taken using the app:

Petphone

Pet Phone

Pet Phone makes tracking your pets health needs and history easy. It's especially helpful if you have multiple pets. Instead of referring to folders or trying to find paperwork about your pet's vaccinations, medications, etc., simply keep track of that within the app and refer to it whenever you need to. From vet appointments, weight and allergies to locating the nearest vet if you're away from home. Definitely a handy tool for pet owners!

PetSafeicon

Petoxins

It's hard to keep track of all the things that can harm your pets that you may have in the house. Did you know that tulips are toxic to cats and dogs? Petoxins is a searchable database of plants reported as having an adverse affect on the health of dogs, cats, and horses. This one costs $2.99, but 35% of the purchase price goes to support the ASPCA.

Doggydatez

Doggy Datez

Doggy Datez is a location-based mobile platform that makes it easy to find people in your area with dogs that may want to walk together or plan puppy play dates. By "marking your territory" you're taking ownership of an area (200m radius) in the physical world and seeing who else "visits" your spot, just like dogs do! You're also able to search for other DoggyDatez users by gender, age, dog gender, dog age and/or dog breed.

dog-park-finder

Dog Park Finder

This app is a comprehensive list of off-leash areas and on-leash dog walks, mapped out for your convenience. The information all comes from DogGoes.com, a site that reviews pet-friendly and pet-unfriendly places, and it's amassed an impressive amount of data.

And finally, believe it or not, there is a whole market out there of gaming apps for cats. So, if you're looking to entertain your cat in a different way, check out one of these fun iPad games for our feline friends.
