Interview with the Future of our Nation: Our Interns

We recently had some excellent summer assistance at the office from a couple recent high school graduates trying their hand at a House Party internship before departing for the exciting world of college. Thoughtful, efficient and smart, Anisha and Drew quickly became a staple of the office and we're so appreciative of their work and enthusiasm for House Party. In fact, we were so impressed and sad to see them go that we wanted to make sure to document a bit of their experience and personalities in their very own post on our blog. So, we interviewed them...part of the future of our nation...and here's what they had to say!

What have you learned working as an intern for House Party?

Anisha: I've learned valuable communication, organization and technological skills. I've learned the importance of media through marketing. I love how it feels right to know what I'm talking about when I explain to people the purpose of House Party.

Drew: I've learned what it's like to be in an office setting. That is something I never really had done before. Working at House Party I learned a lot about how the company works and what it does. Working here has taught me a lot about how the House Party website works, and how all of the material that's on the website gets there.

What are your plans after you graduate High School?

Anisha: I plan to attend Loyola University Maryland with a Major in Communications. I hope to go into advertising after college. One major thing I've learned here at House Party is to never start a career in something you do not love. With that knowledge, nothing is set in stone for me after high school. I have ambitions and plans but my main goal is to be happy in whatever I do.

Drew: When I graduate high school I'll be moving out to Los Angeles to attend Santa Monica College.

What are 3 things you can take away after your time at House Party, that could help you in your future?

Anisha: One: To always ask questions. Two: You can never feature too many comments [on the House Party website]. Three: Nerf gun fights are a must in every office. (Let's just say when you see two of your senior coworkers get down in "battle mode" and shoot each other with plastic bullets from across the room, you know you could not be in a cooler office!)

Drew: I now know how to run tests to make sure everything works on the website, I know how to create surveys for all the House Party hosts and I know that if you have a dog; it's always welcome in the office!

You both just went to your Senior Prom; what was the best part of the night?

Anisha: The best part of my prom night was probably leading up to it. Getting my makeup done was a blast because of the transformation I went through (my before and after pics look like two different people). The food was also quite enjoyable.

Drew: Senior prom was amazing! It was so fun to get all dressed up and just have a good time. The highlight of my prom night was definitely me winning prom king! It was so unexpected and truly was a highlight of my high school career!

If you could trade places with any person, famous/not famous, living/not-living, real/fictional, with whom would it be?

Anisha: If I could trade places with one person it would probably be Blake Lively. I love gossip girl. She's beautiful AND is also married to Ryan Reynolds, so that's a plus.

Drew: If I could trade places with any person, it would definitely be Beyonce. She just lives such a glamorous life and I would love to have it!

You're stranded on a desert island, but you can bring three things. What would they be?

Anisha: If I was stranded on a desert island I would bring my private jet, my famous boyfriend and a lifetime supply of Kinder chocolate.

Drew: If I was stranded on a desert island and could only bring 3 things, I would bring a plane, a pilot and a runway!

If you had a superpower it would be ____.

Anisha: The ability to fly.

Drew: It would definitely be having the ability to fly.

What's the best TV show that you've become addicted to in the last year...

Anisha: I have been addicted to a lot of TV shows this year but I think the one I was most addicted to, was Gossip Girl. I consider it a talent/disease to have finished all 6 seasons in 2 months.

Drew: The best TV show that I've become addicted to over the past year is Scandal! In my opinion, it's one of the best shows on television.

Tell me something I don't know about you.

Anisha: Something that no one knows about me is that I am a lucid dreamer. I have a lot going on in my mind all the time and when I go to sleep my mind turns into lucid mode and I dream some crazy stuff.

Drew: Something you don't know about me is that I love to travel! Over the past 2 years I have traveled to Australia and Fiji. So, there you have it: A quick chat with a couple members of Ameirca's future. It's been a blast to have them helping us out and if Anisha and Drew are any indication, the future of America is very bright! You'll be missed, guys!

Anisha's Bio: Anisha is a 17 year old graduate of Irvington High School. She will be attending Loyola University Maryland in the fall with a plan to major in communications. She enjoys traveling and hopes to live in Los Angeles after college. She plans to travel the world when she is older. Anisha's hobbies include attending leadership seminars, shopping and going to the beach.

Drew's Bio: Drew Schieffelin is currently an intern at House Party. In his free time he loves to hang out with friends and eat sushi. Drew loves to do fun and exciting things, for example this past April he threw himself a black tie red carpet 18th birthday party at his house. Drew's Party Tip: Good music! Make sure to always have some fun music playing during your party. Whether it's loud or just as background music, make sure it's something everyone will love!
