It was one year ago that several of us here at House Party made our way out to Austin, TX (or "ATX" as it's more colloquially known) for the 2012 South by Southwest Interactive Festival. As you might recall, South by Southwest is a set of "conferences & festivals [that] offer the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery." Though SXSW has been around since 1987, it truly has reached the status as a destination for modern cultural pilgrimage over the past 5 years since an "Interactive" festival component was added to the pre-existing "Music" and "Film" festivals. And so, with the history lesson aside, we're excited to head to ATX to learn and discover great ways to keep bringing you the best House Party experience we possibly can. Also, as attendees of the Interactive festival, we're excited to chat with others in the word-of-mouth and social marketing industries and spread the word about what makes us such a unique and compelling way to reach consumers, brand advocates and influencers.
Last year we were met with rain for almost the whole time we were in Texas, so we're praying for a few sunny days. This of course will give us the opportunity to take some nice pictures to share. And, we'll be hosting an event among other activities while we're in town. After all, who hosts a better party than us?? (Correct answer: "No one, of course!") So, we're looking forward to keeping you up to date on our SXSW adventure. We'll certainly be doing a post-SXSW wrap up here on the blog, but during our trip, be sure to stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for some travel updates, images of our exploits and even some tips from all the delicious food and celebrations. Know of any attractions or restaurants in the Austin area that we should visit? Share here!
