Winter may bring with it arctic vortices and days that you could swear have only about 4 hours of daylight. However, for all the aspects of winter months that you may (like me) despise, there are several darned comforting things that come with those blustery months as well, not the least of which is chili. Chili has long been one of my favorite ways to warm up after a day of skiing or a weekend day spent watching more than enough football. It just so happens that chili is at the center of one of our annual celebrations of culinary creativity here at House Party: Our Annual Chili Cook-Off! We've had some remarkable employee recipes that we've passed along the past couple years, from Jerry's Cuban Chili to Larry's Harvest Moon Chili.
Well, this year we're looking to mix things up a little bit!
We're asking you, the House Party community, to contribute your favorite or homemade recipes to compete with ours!
We'll randomly select three recipes provided by you and assign them each to an employee here at House Party to master in advance of the Chili Cook-Off. Once Cook-Off time comes, we'll have recipes from all over competing for our tastebuds. And, let's just say if you get selected, there might just be something sweet (or perhaps spicy) in it for you!
The rules are simple:
- There's a price cap for ingredients at $30 per entry. (Sure this makes it difficult, but that's part of what's fun...the challenge begins not just in the kitchen...but in the grocery store aisles!)
- To enter your recipe: Leave the recipe in full or a link to a blog post featuring your chili recipe in the Comments below
- Entries will be taken through October 15th at 11:59pm EST
- Judging will be based on three categories: originality, overall taste and presentation
So, roll up those sleeves, grab the apron and get that crockpot simmering, because we're looking for YOU to add that extra element to this year's competition. Chili may be the featured spice here, but variety is the spice of life after all.
Let's see what you've got, House Partiers!
