"La fheile Padraig sona dhaoibh!"...er, Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day as we know it stems from the date of the death of the most commonly-recognized patron saint of Ireland back in the late 5th century. And while over the years it has become a feast day recognized by the numerous denominations of the Christian church, the holiday holds something particularly culturally relevant to the American populous as well. Over 35 million US residents claim Irish ancestry and while this figure - more than 11% of the U.S. population - is nothing to sneeze at, on a day like St. Patrick's Day, that population appears to jump to about 314 million (roughly the current US population). Whether you're able to trace your roots to one of the 26 counties of the Emerald Isle or you simply wear the color green proudly and enjoy a bit of emerald brew every March - you're Irish in spirit and that's as good as it comes!

While the holiday is most often celebrated with parades, festivals, church, dining on the quintessential corned-beef and cabbage and, of course, a bit of shenanigans, all you really need to be included in its celebrations is a touch of green on your wardrobe and friendly smile on your face. Here at House Party during St. Patrick's Days passed, we've given you a bit of a look at what St. Patrick means among some of our families as well as a thoroughly-researched piece on the Irish beers and ciders you may want to consider complementing your festivities.

Regardless of how you celebrate, though, we're happy to have you as part of our House Party family and we wish you the most enjoyable, fulfilling and safe St. Patrick's Day holiday to you and yours.

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
