Black Friday's right around the corner...

It's that time of year again...Black Friday! Some of you may be rolling your eyes, thinking "Please, I'm holding out for Cyber Monday," but we're pretty confident that a good number of you will be participating in the annual tradition. There are pros for getting out there at 3am:

  • The thrill of the hunt
  • No shipping costs
  • Did you know that shopping can burn up to about 150 calories per hour? The perfect post-Thanksgiving activity!
  • Family bonding - C'mon! Dividing and conquering a mall can be fun!

And of course, the cons:

  • Long lines
  • Disgruntled shoppers
  • Stressful environment
  • Waiting in the cold/rain/snow for your favorite store to open

To battle these cons, we asked you for some pro-tips for the big day and here are just a few. Of course, feel free to check out the rest (and add to the list) over on Facebook. Who'll be braving the chilly mornings to score great deals? Out to get anything in particular?

About the Author: Sarah is a friend of House Party. Sarah held a few roles during her three years with the company, most recently as our Community Manager. This is a fancy way of saying that she made sure that you were heard, helped and having fun. She also tweeted as one half of the contributors to our @HousePartyFun Twitter handle with Jared. She was born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, but moved to the northern corner of New York City during her time at House Party and has since moved on to the great city of Chicago, where she lives with her boyfriend and their sassy chinchilla, Rufus. Audiophiles at heart, they've crammed-in five guitars and way more speakers and gigabytes of music than a little apartment should hold. Her party tip: no matter the size or type of party, put on music just loud enough to cover up the sound of chewing (ew!), but not chatting.
