Five great apps for organizing your life

Like many people, the everyday madness of life often leaves me searching for ways to simplify things; I want to save time and organize my world. Since the brilliant folks at Apple have managed to turn me into an iJunkie (I am lucky enough to use both the iPhone and the iPad), one place I go for help is the App Store. Of course, the overflowing inventory of constantly changing Apps can make it hard to identify the most useful. With that in mind, here are five Apps that have helped me organize my life, and hopefully they can help you too.

ToodleDo This App takes 'To Do Lists' to the next level by allowing you to create your own categories, set priorities, and create recurring tasks. In addition, it syncs your data across the cloud to all your devices. I find it especially helpful for managing both business and personal tasks all in one place.

EverNote This is an excellent tool for saving and organizing information, including text, images, audio, and web pages. It's also synced across all devices and the web, which makes it more useful than something 'mobile only.' The ability to easily search across all your info is one of the things that makes this a standout App.

Menu Planner While it takes a bit of effort to set up, this is an indespensible tool for meal planning and shopping list management. You can easily import recipes from every major cooking site, or add your own favorites by hand. You create meal plans weekly (or over any time period you choose) and generate the necessary shopping list. The iPhone version is particularly helpful in the grocery store for checking off items as you get them.

Mint.com This is my favorite financial management tool; it can be used online, with your phone, or on the iPad. The App securely imports data from all your banks, credit cards, and other financial institutions, so you can categorize transactions and get a complete view of your spending, income, and financial health.

Penultimate If you like writing by hand, this is the App for you. You can draw sketches, take notes with 'digital ink,' add photos or images, and organize your work into notebooks. You can share via email in PDF format, but the built-in integration with Dropbox and Evernote is icing on the cake.

What are some of your favorite indispensible organizing apps?
