Fall playlist

Like many, autumn is my favorite season. As I've mentioned in the past, I really can't deal with summer heat, so as soon as the temperature cools down and the leaves start changing color, my year finally starts. Some people counter that with, "Ugh, but everything's just dying and that means stupid lonely, dead winter is coming. Why not celebrate spring?" But...come on. Summer's transition to winter is a beautiful change and conjures up some of my favorite memories associated with school, moving, and old friends. It inspires me to rediscover songs and artists from my past. So, here are some of my all-time favorite songs celebrating nostalgia, fall, and change one way or another (yes, I totally threw some awesomely-bitter-but-upbeat break-up songs in there for good measure). It's my favorite soundtrack for pumpkin adventures in the kitchen. In no particular order... 1. Harvest Moon - Neil Young

2 & 3. That's The Way and Going To California - Led Zeppelin

4. Positively 4th Street - Bob Dylan

5. Moondance - Van Morrison

The above five are a tribute to my dad. He was determined to raise us on the classics - and I thank him for it!

6. Younger Us - Japandroids

7. Sing Again - Chris Walla

8 & 9. Monday Morning and Stay Young, Go Dancing - Death Cab for Cutie

10. Another Travelin' Song - Bright Eyes

11. Annie Waits - Ben Folds

12. All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem

13. Chicago - Sufjan Stevens

14. Well - Eef Barzelay

15. Starting Now - Ingrid Michaelson

16. Stuck Between Stations - The Hold Steady

17. Ho Hey - The Lumineers (you know, that song that's in every commercial these days?)
