How much do you really know about Groundhog Day?

How much do you really know about Groundhog Day?

Most of us know that Groundhog Day is February 2. Most of us also know that this day involves the prediction of more winter or a faster Spring, depending on whether that lovable animal sees his shadow. But do you know why Groundhog Day exists? Get ready to have your mind blown (or more likely, just gain some more useless knowledge to toss around at parties).

How to get a good night’s sleep

How to get a good night’s sleep

A couple of weeks ago we presented a post on not making resolutions but rather tackling that bucket list. Well, when January rolls around many people swear they’ll get more sleep this year. Or maybe they simply would kill to get better quality sleep. So we thought, why not make that a bucket list item? It’s attainable, for one. The top movies you can’t NOT watch

The top movies you can’t NOT watch

I know — that title “The top movies you can’t not watch” isn’t exactly good grammar, but I just feel there’s no better way to describe this post. We’ve all been there. You’re surfing the tube one (possibly snowy) afternoon or evening and you see a movie, which you’ve seen a hundred times already, but you just can’t not watch it! It draws you in like a black hole and before you know it, it’s two hours later and you have no idea how it happened. So, in light of the impending snowstorm here on the East Coast, we thought it would be fun to create a list of our top movies that suck you in. And of course, feel free to add your own!

Top photos of 2013 from the House Party community (that’s you!)

Top photos of 2013 from the House Party community (that’s you!)

One of the great things about House Party is how you get to share the awesomeness of your party (or your Chatterbox experience) with everyone else in our community. When you post photos (or videos) of your party, everyone gets to share in the fun you had. And your passion for hosting and experiencing the brands we work with is what makes House Party so very special. So this year we want to call out some top photos of 2013, taken by you, our community. Now that’s not to say there weren’t tons more that we couldn’t include here, but well we have jobs to do and frankly the amount of photos is overwhelming. So this is just a smattering of what went on in homes across the America during 2013…

Must-see holiday movies

Must-see holiday movies

This time of year is usually chock-full of box office openers and great holiday movies. Not only is the deadline approaching for a film to be considered for an Academy Award, but people always flock to the multiplex during December. And there is no shortage of films to choose from this winter: the Dec. 25 holiday typically sees three nationwide releases. This year, there are five.

House Party Blog Second Annual Cookie Swap

House Party Blog Second Annual Cookie Swap

What is it about the holidays that makes us want to eat cookies (more than usual)? Well we’ve created a sort of tradition here at the House Party blog, taking to the oven to bring you some of our favorite cookie recipes. It all began last year where we had a cookie-off and created some extremely diverse confections. And this year is no different. So whether you need to create cookies for the office party, want to gift a neighbor, caretaker, postal carrier, or just want to whip up some treats for the family, hopefully one of these will fit the bill.
